Juli Askew, a.k.a. JuliStar, grew up in Santa Barbara, California.
She graduated from College of Santa Fe with a degree in Costume
Design for Stage & Film. After living in San Francisco, and traveling
through Europe, she moved to Los Angeles in 1998. After many experiences both positive and negative, Juli has discovered that fundraising and event promotion is what she loves most. Making a difference in other people’s
lives is the greatest gift.

JuliStar has been the Team Leader for the Los Angeles AIDS Walk since 1999. The first year Team Superstars consisted of 3 walkers and raised about $200. By 2006, Team Superstars had 68 walkers and rose over $12,000 – giving a chunk of that total directly to AIDS Healthcare Foundation/Carl Bean House. JuliStar would like to promote awareness and raise funds by hosting events where a percentage gives back to HIV/AIDS-related causes. “There is no
reason people are still contracting, and dying of this disease.

We need to do what we can to stop this. As long as it continues, however,
we hope to educate people in the community from first hand knowledge
what can happen if you don’t take the necessary steps!!”
